Our club, as per Rotary ethos, is committed to helping out in the local community. The Community Services Committee will therefore continue to support many community activities in Royston and the surrounding villages. We intend to contine the following events during Rotary year 2017-18: •Christmas decorations at St Georges Nursing Home and Richard Cox House•Father Christmas tour in Royston and surrounding villages•Santa to meet children at Bury Lane Garden Centre•Swimathon•Children in need collection•Assistance with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice collection•Assistance with British Red Cross collection•Royston in Bloom - marshalling car parking Joint events with Royston Methodist Church•Community breakfast•Two historic vehicle shows In addition to the above events we are also looking to have possible projects of addressing "loneliness”, particularly for elderly people within the community. We will also be actively looking to start a "memory cafe" for those suffering from dementia in Royston and surrounding villages. It must also be remembered that much of the output, such as the Kite Festival and the numerous youth activities, of other groups also contribute to services to the community. We therefore believe that our club fully pulls its weight in this area inspite of our resources being already pretty stretched.
