Rotary International

Rotary International was formed in 1905.

It is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people with some 1,210,905 members operating in 168 countries world-wide. The greatest humanitarian success has been working towards eradication of Polio.

There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world peace and understanding. It's a fulfilling role and Rotarians can get involved as much or as little as their time will allow

But there is much more. Clubs meet on a regular basis, which allows members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has the right to attend any Club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always somewhere to go, and people to meet, wherever business or leisure travel may take you.

Rotary International has its own charity, Rotary Foundation, the largest charity in the world, which helps fund education and international projects where there is deprivation and need.

Rotary in Royston

Rotary Club of Royston

The Rotary Club of Royston was formed in 1962 and has served the local community and has made its contribution towards helping with global problems.

There are 43 members of the Royston Club made up of men and women who live or work in the area and who are leaders in their profession or occupation.

We have a diplomat, a decorator, a shop fitter, accountants, bankers, a podiatrist, charity workers, a civil engineer, a publisher, an upholder and many others.

We meet every Tuesday evening and have speakers on various topics of local, national and international interest and enjoy other sporting and social events.

Our main work, however, is to serve the community.

Each year we help to raise in the order of  £12,000 for charitable purposes.

Royston has a link Club, The Rotary Club of Paray le Monial and Charolais, regular exchange visits are made between the Clubs and lasting friendships have been forged.
